Summary Description

Site of churches for over 900 years. A stone church of the late 18th century was pulled down in 1872 and the demolition material used for a new, tall church with distinctive 65 foot north west tower by architect G Watson. A Norman pillar piscine and medieval effigies and other decorated stones were also retained in the building. Stained glass was added in 1877 and, in 1888 more glass and a fine oak screen, were also added. The later furnishings include a Harrison and Harrison organ of about 1890 and a delightful reredos of the late 19th century. The lych gate is a war memorial.
