Summary Description

This is a Grade 1 listed building of high architectural, archaeological and historical significance, particularly for its decorated stone reredos and medieval rood screens. Bats have been recorded in the building since 1904, with current populations of pipistrelles and Brown long-eared bats. The original building material was the local greenstone, which ranges in colour from green to rust, and the fabric has since been patched in both brick and Weldon stone, producing a pleasing diversity of surface colour and texture.
