Summary Description

The church is situated about 1 mile northwest of the present centre of the village in an isolated location at the bottom of a very steep hill. There are no known records giving the date of the foundation of the church at Lytchett Matravers. The tower is the oldest part of the building – the arch dates from about 1200 whilst the pinnacles, which are carved with the Maltravers fret, are circa 1500.
